This project is an early example of mine that takes a holistic approach to a design problem. This was an interior design project, but beyond programming and development of the interior space, I broke beyond the confines of the space and contextually integrated the building. The project was a recording studio. Through my research, I found many studios to be of similar design, regardless of location. What drives one to record at one studio versus another, historical past significance aside? I explored the idea of celebrity and "accepted" intrusion into what's typically a private process and created a space that opened up the layers of the recording process and brought the artist and the public closer together through the architecture and interior design. |
